Entry 10: Making Presentations. What I learned about making effective presentations.

We were told to create a PowerPoint presentation with “Hardware” topic.  In order to make an effective presentation with original point we used some advices taken from Computer Skill class. We minimized number of slides, in our slides we included only import information. Because there is a proverb the deal isn’t in amount, but in quality. We also decided to leave a general front style because we think that for audience it will be better to read all known “Arial”. We included the charts and graphs, but we kept them very understandable. So everybody will be able to understand them. And the final think we have chosen is using bullet points and short sentences, it won’t wrap the text. I hope these tips will help us keep audience attentive and interested.

Entry 9: American Civil War (Origins of slavery)

The American Civil War occurred in 1861–1865, also known as the War Between the States. American Civil War had an effect on the lives of slaves. First slaves arrived in America in 1619. The only way to find freedom was Underground Railway. This method was for northerners to avoid them slavery and find a place to live in states of Canada. "Black" ones were usually the ones who helped with the Underground Railroad. It is believed that about 50.000 to 100.000 people used the Underground Railroad to get freedom. The people in The North did not need slavery as much as South did. Because South grew cotton and needed a lot of people but for very little or even no money. Freedom of the slaves happened when were accepted Emancipation Proclamination.  When the thirteenth Amendment banned slavery in the United States. They sad neither slavery nor involuntary bondage should exist in the United States. I personally liked the actions of General who was the 18th President of the United States and military commander. In the battle of Chattanooga he could unblock the city, and then break army of the Braga. I disliked the words of Jefferson Davis and senators who said in their territory slavery will exist "ever"

Entry 8: My Note Taking Experience

Note taking is a part of learning style. My first note taking experience started when I studied at school. We had lectures were we supposed to take notes on our notebooks. During the class I thought that I understood everything and I will be able to therefore it, but I was wrong. Learning of making notes effectively helped me to improve my study and remember important information. In the beginning of note taking I tried to write down everything I heard. But then, when I started to review, there were mass, after it my teacher advised me not to use key words or very short sentences and not to write down everything but the important part of the lesson. So "right" note taking helped me to sort important material and unimportant material.

Entry 7: Tape Recording the Lecture

In most cases, tape-recording lectures forces us to listen to the same lecture again, hence wasting time and not gaining anything more than if we had just paid attention and taken better quality notes during class.
Advantages of tape recording are : It can help us to relax and listen more carefully to what is being said and to take better notes. It can can be useful to clarify parts of the lecture.
Disadvantages of tape recording are: Sometimes it fails to record and we miss the whole lecture, sound could be very poor, we must ask permission of the instructor to record their lecture, students rely to much to their tape-recorder and don't concentrate well in the lecture. So, Even with so many disadvantages, tape-recorder is the good thing which can help is in our study.
